New Report Claims WWE Will Make Ricky Starks And 1 Other Former AEW Champion A Priority Once They Hit Free Agency

A veteran pro wrestling reporter revealed this week that when Ricky Starks and Britt Baker eventually hit free agency, expect WWE to make a strong pursuit for the two young stars.

AEW’s rise to becoming the undisputed No. 2 company in the pro wrestling game has been rapid. However, many would say it has been on the back of former WWE greats like Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, Daniel Bryan, and CM Punk, to name a few. However, without a doubt, the promotion has also developed several homegrown stars.

The most notable of which is former AEW World Champion MJF, but there are others like one-time FTW and tag team champion Ricky Starks, and former women’s champion Dr. Britt Baker DMD. And the latter two reportedly could be targets of WWE if they hit the open market.

During a recent installment of “Fightful Wrestling with Sean Ross Sapp,” the longtime wrestling reporter claimed that WWE “would try [to sign] Ricky Starks and Hook, very very obviously. I feel Britt Baker would be somebody they would be interested in. But yeah, I think that both be guys they’d be interested in.”

Is Ricky Starks set to be a free agent soon?

Earlier this month it was reported that Hook would like to test his value in free agency later this year and WWE could be a serious suitor. There have also been recent rumblings that Starks’ contract with AEW could be up soon, and considering his talent and close friendship with WWE champion Cody Rhodes he is sure to be on the company’s radar.

Britt Baker is believed to have signed a new contract with AEW in 2022 and is probably a year or two away from being a free agent. Furthermore, her longtime relationship with love interest Adam Cole may help keep her loyal to AEW for many years to come.
