NHL bets: Two plus-money SOG plays for Tuesday, March 5

Tuesday's NHL slate is ripe with SOG value, and it's there we turn in the prop market for a pair of plays tonight. One is a three-legger built on some safer floors for a trio of shooters, and for another, we move right on up to an alternate line for a man shooting the puck at a frenzied pace of late.

.75u: Brock Nelson 3+ shots & Kyle Palmieri 2+ shots and Filip Zadina 2+ shots (+158 FanDuel)

This is a bit of a wonky combination of bets for just one play, but it's my preferred path tonight. The biggest downside I see is that we'll have to wait until the late game to celebrate a win, as Filip Zadina won't play until 10:30 ET tonight.

Let's stay with Zadina for a moment. I stumbled on this guy last week, and he has been rock-solid at this 2+ shots line since. Zadina was recently elevated to San Jose's second line, playing 16+ minutes in five straight games. He's averaging 3.0 SOG/game on 7.0 attempts/game in that five-game stretch, and that's a role I will continue to follow.

Zadina has 2+ shots in all 12 games this season when he plays 16+ minutes, and he's over in 24 of his last 32 such games. Dallas isn't a great target, but that's not the only piece of the puzzle to care about.

We get to plus-money by bringing in a pair of Islanders in Brock Nelson and Kyle Palmieri from the early slate. New York is hosting the Blues, who are on a back-to-back and just allowed the Flyers to get off 40+ shots on them.

St. Louis is allowing 34.4 shots per game on the road over the past 45 days, which should give the Isles offense chances to get going.

Nelson has 3+ shots in nine of his last 10, eight straight at home, and five straight against the Blues (3.8 SOG/game average). Palmieri has 2+ shots in 13 of his last 15, 14 of his past 15 at home, and he has 4+ shots in three straight against St. Louis.

.75u: Wyatt Johnston 4+ shots (+182 FD)

This price is just far too good to pass up on, so I'll just play it straight. Dallas is heading to San Jose for another game with the Sharks, and they should be set for 34+ shots on net here.

The young Wyatt Johnston has been a force against this prop of late, finishing with 4+ shots in seven of his last 10 games, three straight games and four of his last six on the road.

He just had five shots against the Sharks three days ago, and San Jose is allowing the third-most shots to centers over the last 10 games.
